Blurred, Fuzzy Images

Obviously, focusing errors can cause a blurred looking image. However, blurred, fuzzy images are not always focusing errors.

Ghost looking, near duplicate images, seemingly superimposed on top or beside each other, may indicate the picture was taken at an abnormally slow shutter speed. Another common symptom of slow shutter speed for a given situation, is indicated by subject motion on the resulting image.

Blurred, fuzzy spots, appearing in about the same area on all of your pictures, may indicate a dirty lens. When cleaning your lenses, don't forget to check the back element in addition to the front of the lens.

If the wrong area of the image is in focus, and other areas of the image are sharp, the cause is most likely a focus error. This is frequently a result of operator error, but it can also be caused by camera or lens malfunction.
